Meet Our 2017 Walk Chairpersons

The chairs of the 5th annual Soles for Catholic Education Walk have walked many miles in the shoes of Catholic school students and parents. Now they’re working to make sure that path stays open to others.

Paul and Paula Eberle will lead the 2017 Soles for Catholic Education Walk on Saturday, October 21. The two-mile walk, beginning at Mount Mary University, is intended to ensure that Catholic education remains affordable and accessible while celebrating Catholic schools and building community throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.

Walkers collect donations to be used for tuition assistance at the schools they represent.

Paul and Paula feel blessed to have been educated, kindergarten through college, at Catholic schools. They are thankful their parents were able to give them this "great gift" of Catholic education.

"Faith was also important in our homes growing up," Paul says. "That faith foundation has been critical to us as we face all of the challenges that life brings.

Our faith - which we learned at home and in Catholic schools - is a lifeline to our sanity.  We don't know how people get through the challenges life brings without faith, without trust in God's plan, without a loving Creator to turn to in times of trouble.  Our Catholic education has also taught us about giving back and serving others in need."

Paul and Paula made the decision to send their own children to Catholic schools.  Paul adds, “In our experience, Catholic schools offer a great education and strong moral development - both are so critical in the ultra-competitive and morally challenging world we live in today.

Catholic schools, particularly in the City of Milwaukee, are critical to the future of our kids and our city. Education, moral decision-making, service to others - we think these are important to all kids. Catholic schools continue to do a great job educating kids - many of whom are not Catholic, many of whom don't have other great schools options."

The Eberle's feel that chairing the Soles for Catholic Education Walk is one way in which they can support the good work of Catholic school leaders, teachers and staff doing the hard work of educating children throughout the ten counties of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
